The HOPSports vast content library contains lesson plans promoting essential skills necessary for all students to recognize and maintain lifelong physically active and healthy lifestyles. Mindful that as children grow their skill sets and interests change, fun and challenging movement patterns are introduced designed to achieve competency in motor skills, physical literacy, and positive connotations towards and increased participation in physical activity.

Training Tools


T-Bow

The T-Bow is extremely versatile and is effective for all ages and skill levels in improving strength, coordination, balance, flexibility , and cardiovascular fitness. Light, portable and storable at 7 lbs, the T-Bow has a demonstrated proven capacity to withstand 660 lbs. The T-Bow's shape increases range of movement for more comprehensive body training , and is an effective tool for group fitness classes, special needs students, sports performance, therapy and home training.


SandBells

Made of durable and stretchable neoprene, the SandBell is the most versatile and enjoyable functional weight training tool on the market. The SandBell is best described as a cross between a sandbag, a dumbbell, a barbell, a grip bag, a medicine ball, a slam ball, a stability pod, a gliding disk and a kettle bell. As an enhancement to any training, the Sandbell is perfectly suited to any age and skill level with sizes ranging from 2 to 12 lbs.


The HOPSports Mat

The Mat is used for HOPSports lessons, with a multi-purpose function that includes ladders, hurdles, cones and circuit drills . Consisting of (9) 2'x2' interlocking high-density foam tiles, the Mats are easy to assemble , store, and configure for any lesson and fitness activity.


Ballast Balls

BOSU® Ballast® Balls stay put, so that balls don't wander around the gym floor. Constructed of high-quality, burst-resistant material, it has a six-sided design for proper alignment and positioning. With the BOSU® Ballast® Ball, individuals can perform exercise progressions and dynamic drills that aren't possible on a regular stability ball.


HOPSticks

A HOPStick is an 18" foam rubber stick used in HOPSports lessons to simulate sports movement and training including golf, baseball, softball, swordfighting and more.


Benefits of the HOPSports Training System

Award winning nonprofit Be Active North Carolina (BANC) commissioned a comprehensive independent research study of HOPSports. BANC, in conjunction with three North Carolina universities, concluded that HOPSports provides the foundation for active and healthy lifestyles:


Findings Include:

  • Increased activity in all students by 55%
  • Increased activity levels for female students by 68%
  • Increased activity levels in overweight and obese students by 23%
  • Lessons exceeded the target for moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA) by up to 20%
  • Provides a 38% return on investment

After HOPSports was introduced, overweight and obese students had an activity level comparable to or greater than healthy weight students in traditional PE.
